How much DI resin does it take to Pill the 40-in And do I measure it by volume or weight ?

I'm looking at purchasing a couple of these with the housings one would be for DI and one would be for water softening i live in an extremely hard water area

We estimate about a bag and a half.
A cubic foot is currently sold as 5 sealed bags.
You can buy the bags as single as well.
