Coverage is variable based upon the strength you need to clean the oxidation from your metal roof
Metal Roof Restoration –mix rate is approx. 24 oz/gal start low and increase as needed.
If you are also cleaning off organic matter (mold, algae etc)
Then you will be adding SH Sodium Hypochlorite to create a softwash mix…
The coverage in square feet (sqft) for a gallon of softwash mix depends on various factors such as the concentration of the softwash mix, the type of surface being cleaned, and the equipment being used.
Typically, a gallon of softwash mix can cover anywhere from 200 to 600 square feet, depending on the concentration of the mix and the type of surface being cleaned. For example, a softwash mix with a concentration of 1:3 (one part bleach to three parts water) may cover around 200 to 300 square feet when used to clean a relatively porous surface like an asphalt roof or a concrete driveway.
In the case of a metal roof, siding or other hard surfaces, a softwash mix with a concentration of 1:10 (one part bleach to ten parts water) may cover around 500 to 600 square feet when used to clean a less porous surface.
Also it is recommended to test the softwash mix on a small, inconspicuous area before applying it to the entire surface to ensure that it does not damage the surface being cleaned. A strong mix can unacceptably change the color of the surface or remove the paint from the surface.
